Daytona Beach, Florida -- March 3, 2006 -- After four years in-the-works, two years since the sign went up and weathering three hurricanes, the HotSpot Coffee Shoppe is finally opening.

Marcia Buckingham and Gustav Postreich have paid their dues since purchasing the building in February of 2002. "Some people say we must have a lot of patience… Patience has nothing to do with it," states Buckingham. "After you've gone this far, you can't just quit. After the sign went up January 1, 2004, we placed 'Opening Soon' on the marquee. That has always been good for a real laugh."

Postreich said, "On our return trip from Jacksonville, after evacuating the area for Hurricane Frances, we resolved that if the signs were gone, so were we. The signs were mostly intact, however it left us without a contractor, and therefore more delays. After that, the word REALLY was added to the Opening Soon marquee."

HotSpot Coffee Shoppe hopes the atmosphere will be a stress reliever for some customers and a "home away from home" for others. Gourmet coffee, Cappuccinos, Lattes, Mochas, Smoothies, quality tea and elegant pastries are featured. Buckingham states, "While keeping the menu simple, we want to be a bit more upscale than most area coffee shops. Special activities will be added to the venue. Authors will be invited to have book signings, musicians to entertain, and artist to display their wares. Free WiFi is available for the computer savvy customer."

"During the last four years," said Postreich, "we have learned a lot about the coffee business by attending various trade shows around the country and the first ever Southeast Barista Jam. During that time frame, we also visited coffee shops all over the country. That is how we found Ron and Diane Griffin, owners of Connect Café , who have become great friends and mentors over the years. We are now working together to foster the coffee culture in Daytona Beach"

HotSpot Coffee Shoppe building, which is located at 1216 S. Ridgewood Avenue in Daytona Beach, also houses Denlinger's Publishers, the family's traditional book publishing business established in 1926, Daytona Press author services, and donates space to the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance, (AWAM) a 501C3 non-profit organization
